I have returned! Was out of town for the last few days so I had very little time online, and I didn’t get to put together a blog post. Since I started blogging about Minecraft here, I’ve had a couple questions about the texture pack seen in the screenshots. It’s not anything special, just the Painterly Pack. I went through the on site customizer and picked options that I liked.
But since people have asked, I’ll post the texture pack I use here, for those who would like to exactly replicate the look you see in my screenshots.
Download: HandsofFate Pack
(EDIT: Since the update to 1.5 I’ve kept the link to my texture pack on the “My Minecraft Server” page, to keep the pack current)
The main features of the pack are light stone and cobble, light wood textures, and a paler smooth grass. Fixtures such as doors, chests, and workbenches are all dark. Oh and my glass has the least border possible without being completely invisible. I like my bay windows. 🙂
Hope you enjoy, and Happy Crafting!
Just yesterday I changed texture packs while playing! I was looking for some clay and my monitor is very dark, thus hard to spot anything below a level or two of water. I popped on the Haunted pack and poof! Clay looks like terra cotta and it was a lot easier to find.
But then I ran into the problem of “is that clay? No… How about that? No… This? Dude, that was the exact same color as last time, stop asking, Brain!” and in the end it morphed into a “you’ll know it when you see it” which is a very precarious situation to be in.
Thanks for posting your pack, bud! I remember watching, ah, I forgot the exact name but it was an animation about a griefer on Minecraft and at the end of the video you could replay it, or click a button and download the skin of someone within that animated short. Was a nice touch.
Though, is that “hands” name your actual account name? If it is, I’d recommend renaming the pack to something else so no one can try hacking into it. Aye, I might be paranoid, but the less chances of anything bad happening the better I says ^_^
Well, I imagine that if I’m supposed to keep my acct name secret that posting on the official Minecraft forums is quite a larger security risk.
Anyway, I went with the orange/brown-ish clay color in my pack, so it’s really easy to spot, as it’s usually surrounded by sand or gravel. It’s easy enough to find that I actually have a half dozen stacks of bricks that I’ve been saving up for a yet to be decided project.
Haha, me and the server admin were having a near-identical discussion last night. He said something about posting on the forums and mentioned he used the same exact name on there as his MC account name. At least he uses a different password for each, so that’s a bonus. I have yet to use the forums, though if I did I’d probably use one of like 6 handles I got. I lost a yahoo account eons ago so I might have just been all ‘secure, secure!’ since ^_^
And I think slime spawn rates are tied to clay blocks, as before you were lucky to find one ever hundred or so beaches, and now there are darn near caves and coal-sized deposits of the stuff, usually just under the surface like a sandbar or something. Either way, I think it is a good change, just surprising to see em so frequently now. But as you said, that leads to another ‘problem. What to do with em all? XD
